Virtue-Based Restorative Discipline
Virtue-Based Restorative Discipline offers teachers, parents, students, and schools a way to cultivate virtue while repairing harm from bullying and other hurtful behaviors.

Guiding Principles

1. We will dedicate ourselves to living virtue.
2. We will support others in living virtue.
3. We will commit to constructive thoughts, words, and deeds.
4. When faced with challenges or conflict, we will find solutions that cultivate virtue for ourselves and for one another.

Goals of Restorative Discipline

• To understand the harm and develop empathy for both parties
• To listen and respond to the needs of both parties
• To encourage accountability and responsibility through personal reflection within a collaborative planning process

Components of Prevention

• Staff Development – working to identify problems/refine the process
• Class Meetings – committed to helping students grow emotionally
• Parent Discussions – a way to build stronger families committed to the process
• Building Community – expanding efforts to build healthy relationships among adults

VBRD at St. Clement
Colossians 3:12-15

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has a grievance against another; as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do. And overall these put on love, that is, the bond of perfection.
And let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one body. And be thankful.

Our Virtue Goal: We will be virtuous in our thoughts, words, and deeds.
